Beyond Good and Evil
Written on December 3, 2024

This game is a fairly old title that I've loved since I first played it on the PS2 as a little kid. But it was recently re-released as a 20th Anniversary Edition, so this review isn't too out of place I guess.

It was created by the creator of Rayman, just after he had finished working on Rayman's first excursion into 3D, Rayman 2. Like the Rayman games, Beyond Good and Evil can best be described as a platformer. But unlike the Rayman games, this game focuses primarily on storyline and world building.

The world is such a joy to explore, the little details are fun to discover and constantly change the further the story progresses. And the characters that inhabit this world are also fun to interact with.

But where the game really shines for me is it's monster designs. They are almost all very original and a lot of fun to experience for the first time.

I highly recommend you give this game a try if you haven't already. Be warned though, it notoriously ends on a cliffhanger and while a sequel has been announced in 2008, there's still no release date in sight.
